Establishment of the United States-Singapore Cyber Dialogue

The establishment of the United States-Singapore Cyber Dialogue (USSCD) was announced during the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore to the United States of America (US) from 26 March to 2 April 2022. This initiative follows the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity across various agencies during US Vice President Kamala Harris’ official visit to Singapore in August 2021.

2 Singapore and the US share deep mutual interests in enhancing cybersecurity cooperation, particularly as cybersecurity has become a key enabler for both countries to leverage the benefits of digitalisation to grow their economies and improve the lives of their people. To further strengthen cybersecurity cooperation between the two countries, the USSCD will be held annually, or as determined by both countries. The USSCD will see senior Government officials from the cyber operational, technical, and policy units of various agencies, come together to discuss and move forward existing practical bilateral cooperation.

3 Aside from information sharing on cybersecurity operations, areas of discussion will include the protection of Critical Information Infrastructure, cybersecurity related to critical technologies, regional as well as international cyber policy, capacity-building, international standards and conformity assessment, countering ransomware and managing supply chain security.

4 The co-chairs of the USSCD and level of representation from both countries will be determined at a later date.
